In a rapidly expanding industry full of mediocre sh*t, I’m an independent filmmaker (director, editor, writer, producer, and director of photography) striving “to produce timeless and thought provoking content that doesn’t suck“, while maintaining the highest level of integrity, so long as I don’t go bankrupt ;)

What is TheJanelleShow! and how do I get on the show?

I’m a filmmaker actually. TheJanelleShow! is more of a pseudonym, and the name of my company/online portfolio. When I was little I wanted to be an anchor woman, which soon transitioned into wanting to be a talk show host or an entertainment reporter. In high school, when I was asked what I wanted to be when I grow up, I stated “The Janelle Show”, to kind of sum the whole thing up. I ended up going to broadcasting school where they make you learn behind the camera, as well as in front of the camera. Lets just say I fell in love with behind the camera… and the rest is history! When I needed a name for my company/online portfolio, TheJanelleShow! was the perfect fit.

How much do you charge for a video/project?

I’m a firm believer of “you get what you pay for” and “it takes money to make money”, so don’t expect any pro-bono action from me. My interning years are far behind me. However, I recognize true talent, and how hard an artist has to work financially to secure a spot for themselves in this industry. So lets work something out :)

When and where are your next projects coming out?

2011 is going to be a problem. Remember, patience is a virtue. I know with the onslaught of sh*tty online content assaulting your computer screens on a daily basis, it makes those artists with a lot more to say seem like they’re not “bout it, bout it”, which is far from the truth.

  • My full name is Janelle Marion Vivian Ryan.
  • My Nana nicknamed me Nelly or Janelly.
  • I’m originally from Boston (Somerville, MA to be exact).
  • Yes I am a Red Sox fan, and Yes I do loathe the Yankees.
  • Currently residing in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brookyn.
  • I’ve lived in five different neighborhoods of Brooklyn.
  • I’m an 80′s babies, raised in the 90′s — the coolest decade ever.
  • I eat an all-natural diet, no high fructose corn syrup for me.
  • I’m allergic to Peanuts, so I stay away from Tree Nuts as well.
  • Recently I stopped eating meat, except for fish.
  • I LOVE to eat, not too fond of the cooking part.
  • My mom was born and raised in Trinidad & Tobago.
  • My dad is Irish-American, born and raised here.
  • I don’t own a television set, but I’m addicted to internet TV.
  • My favorite color is lime green, followed by all the funky neon colors.
  • I’m a follower of Christ. My GOD is an awesome GOD.
